Curatorium and Administration of the Academy

CURATORIUM

Presentation

The Curatorium is the Scientific Board of the Hague Academy of International Law. Its members, all of whom are highly qualified scholars of international law with a worldwide reputation, are presided by Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, former Secretary General of the United Nations. It determines the scientific policy and the activities of the Academy, draws up its programmes, chooses lecturers from all backgrounds from among the most highly renowned academics and international practitioners. In general, the Curatorium ensures that, through its various actions, the Academy continues to promote the scientific knowledge of international law from the point of view of peace, development and cooperation between peoples, by responding as well as possible to the emerging aspirations of a world that is undergoing rapid and deep-seated change. The Secretary General of the Academy may make proposals to the Curatorium, and is entrusted with implementing the decisions taken by the Curatorium in its two or more annual meetings.
