Join the Academy – Job offers

Every year, the Academy is looking for new talents to help organise the Summer Courses and other programmes on the Peace Palace premises. 

Three summer assistants/volunteers

For its Summer Courses (7 July – 15 August 2025) sessions, the Academy is looking for volunteer assistants to accompany and supervise participants in their activities.

The candidates sought should:

  • reside in the Provence Zuid-Holland region (The Hague, Leiden, etc.);
  • have a good command of spoken and written French (B2 level or above preferred) and English;
  • be available for the entire duration of the  Summer Courses (Monday to Friday, with a contract for 4 days a week agreed in advance of the session);
  • hold at least a bachelor’s degree (preferably in international law or international relations).

A paid volunteer contract will be offered for these positions.

Supervisor/attendant

For the same sessions of the Summer Courses, the Academy is looking for a supervisor/attendant whose duties are to guard the entrance to the Auditorium during lectures ensuring that access to the courses is smooth and that there are no disruptions during the session, as well as facilitating attendance checks and supervising examinations.

The candidates sought should:

  • reside in the Provence Zuid-Holland region (The Hague, Leiden, etc.);
  • have a good command of spoken and written English, French and Dutch are an asset;
  • hold a work permit for the Schengen area;
  • be available for the duration of the Summer courses.

The seasonal employment contract will be for 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours a week.

General Affairs Officer

The Academy’s Secretariat carries out administrative activities for the implementation of its programmes. General Affairs positions may be available to support the team in organising events and other Academy activities. These positions are contractual depending on the needs in the team.

Candidates sought should:

  • reside in the Provence Zuid-Holland region (The Hague, Leiden, etc.);
  • hold a work permit in the Schengen area;
  • have a good command of spoken and written French (level C1) and English;
  • be available for the duration of the Winter and Summer Courses;
  • experience in administrative, organisational and general support tasks is highly desirable.
