Signing Ceremony between The Hague Academy and the Judicial Academy of the Philippines

On 14 July 2023, an official signing ceremony of the terms of reference of a programme to be carried out by The Hague Academy at the request of the Judicial Academy of the Philippines was held in the superb Historical Reading Room of the Peace Palace.

The terms of reference set out the arrangements for the programme of special courses to be given by the Academy between 19 February and 1 March 2024 in Manila. The Secretary-General of The Hague Academy Jean-Marc Thouvenin, the Philippine Ambassador to The Netherlands J. Eduardo Malaya, the Chancellor of the Philippine Judicial Academy Rosmari Carandang and the Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines Marvic M.V.F. Leonen delivered speeches, in the presence of a number of prominent figures. Fourteen Philippines attendees of The Hague Academy public international law summer courses also had the opportunity to attend the ceremony. Discussing the role of the Philippines in its engagement with interntional organisations, Ambassador Malaya announced the financing of scholarships for students in the amount of 14,400 euros.
