Practical information about scholarships – Winter

Scholarships are only open to applicants who, at the time of application, have already obtained an undergraduate university law degree (BA, AB, LL.B. or equivalent) at a minimum. Preference will be given to applicants holding a master’s degree or higher.

Scholarships cover the registration fees, and travel expenses to and from The Hague. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to a maximum amount, calculated based on the region of departure and the ticket cost, without exceeding the set ceiling (see table below). Reimbursements are issued only upon presentation of valid proof of payment for (economy class) travel and are processed during the final week of the courses.

At the start of the programme, scholarship recipients also receive a sum of €600 to assist with accommodation-related costs.

Kindly note that individuals whose permanent residence is registered in the Netherlands (excluding the Caribbean Netherlands) are not necessarily eligible for reimbursement of travel or accommodation expenses. As eligibility may vary depending on the distance to The Hague, we encourage those concerned to contact us at scholarships-winter@hagueacademy.nl for further information.

The maximum reimbursement per region traveled from are as follows:

Europe (excl. NL) : €250

Maghreb, Middle East, Russia & Central Asia: €350
South Asia: €800
North America: €700
Far East & Sub-Saharan Africa: €800
Central and South America, Oceania & Pacific Islands: €1000

The admissibility criteria are not the same as for full-fee applicants.

It is not permitted to register at the full fee and apply for a scholarship for the same session simultaneously. If the scholarship is not granted, registration at the full fee may be requested (subject to availability) after notification of the outcome of the scholarship application.
